At New Hope Presbyterian Church we serve the Kingdom of God by getting involved with our local community and supporting various missions around the world.

Please Pray for Pastor Andrew Brunson

EPC Teaching Elder Andrew Brunson was arrested in the Turkish coastal city of Izmir (biblical Smyrna) on October 7, 2016 and has been imprisoned ever since. He and his family have lived in Turkey since 1993. At the time of his arrest, he was serving as pastor of Izmir Resurrection Church. Andrew has been formally indicted and is facing decades in prison. His trial began Monday, April 16. We would ask you to pray throughout the week for favor and for Andrew’s freedom.

Dr. Rich Freeman

Dr. Rich Freeman from Chosen People Ministries will be at New Hope for a special event on Sunday, May 6, at 6:30pm. Come to learn about the gospel message preached through the OLD Testament, as well as practical ways to introduce your Jewish friends to the Messiah!

Ethiopia Visit

April 23-May 2, Ken Seim and Daniel Meade will be traveling to northern Ethiopia to visit our World Outreach partners, Jon & Kristi Nykamp. If you’d like to help by purchasing items for the Youth Center, you can find a list here. Please have all items to the church by Friday, April 20. Thank you for giving!

Puerto Rico Family Missions Trip

July 28 – August 3, 2018, we will travel to the island of Puerto Rico to assist in relief and rehabilitation in the wake of devastation caused by Hurricane Maria. We will partner with a local church (within our same presbytery!), providing assistance to the pastoral staff, working on cleaning and building projects, as well as ongoing efforts of relief distribution. Click here for a sample itinerary.

This is a family missions trip, so we would highly encourage teens, parents, grandparents, and siblings to prayerfully consider going on this trip together (ages 13+ only, please). The trip will be led by Daniel Meade and facilitated by Praying Pelican Missions, an organization with a lot of experience and local connection. For more information about PPM’s initiatives in Puerto Rico, watch the video below or visit their website.

Thailand Work Trip

We will be taking a team to Chiang Mai from November 1-10 (dates tentative) to assist in the relocation of their seed bank and global farm. Currently, the seed bank is located some three hours north of the Impact Center and is geographically prohibitive. Over the course of 18-24 months, ECHO Asia will host teams to help in construction of a new facility within Chiang Mai and then relocation of resources.

We are looking for adults with experience in farming, botany, construction, framing, plumbing, electrical work. If you have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity or Builders without Borders, you would be well-prepared for the trip.

In addition to the week+ of international travel, commitment would include preparation and training meetings leading up to departure, as well as follow-up events and debriefing afterward. You can download the application here.
