How valuable is spiritual parenting and what is its fruit? How can you know if your parenting is making a spiritual impact upon a child’s/person’s life?
Session 1 (September 12): In this session, we will explore and discuss the strategic place of spiritual parenting and its relationship to the values of the Kingdom of God. We will also outline the various roles that spiritual shepherding assumes in the process of watching and parenting a child’s/person’s soul. Finally, we will examine some of the direct fruit that spiritual parenting produces and how prayer, the Scriptures, the Cross and the Resurrection empower spiritual parents to nurture their children (of any age) out of their own brokenness. The premise in this session is all about the value and fruit of spiritual parenting a child’s/person’s life in the ways of God.
Because spiritual parenting is intrinsically biblical-values-driven, how can I as a spiritual parent be used of the Holy Spirit to penetrate into the innermost being of a child’s/person’s life with the values of the Kingdom of God? What does a child’s innermost being look like?
Session 2 (September 19): In this session, we will explore and discuss the nature of the heart and soul and its implications in spiritual parenting, drawing from the Hebrew notion of the heart and the Greek notion of the soul to equip spiritual parents in what they must know, be and do in order to make a lasting impact upon a child’s/person’s life. The premise in this session is that spiritual parenting is not “technique-driven,” but spiritually-driven and informed by the biblical understanding of the human condition.
Because spiritual parenting attempts to address a child’s/person’s core being, what are some of its primary foundations? What are some grounds upon which spiritual parents can pivot that can springboard them into occasions for life-transforming engagement and impact?
Session 3 (September 26): In this session, we will explore and discuss how the Gospel addresses the human condition and how the Kingdom of God-values of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17) can empower spiritual parents to shepherd their spiritual children in a grace-based, God-honoring way. The premise in this session is how the gospel–housed within the Kingdom of God—structures, clarifies and empowers spiritual parents to perceive, to approach, to engage and to address the issues that a child/person faces each day in human life.
Recognizing that every child is unique, different and highly complex, how do you “train and rear up children in the way of their going?” What does rearing really mean?
Session 4 (October 3): In this final session, we will explore and discuss the common misconceptions about children and rearing—along with its challenges and difficulties—then uncover the real meaning of Proverbs 22:6 from a Hebrew-oriented approach. We will also highlight the rewards that come from an investment in child-rearing and uncover the time-tested family values that equip parents with effective tools in shepherding and spiritual oversight. The premise in this session is that understanding “the way of a child’s going” is profoundly valuable in knowing how to approach, to shepherd—even at times to pull along—a child’s/person’s heart and will in the rearing process.
