… do I hear Jesus calling me to follow him?
… do I know what I believe?
… am I ready to stand up and say “Yes”?
Confo is short for Confirmation: a process @New Hope where we teach ms/hs students the basics of faith in Jesus Christ and a life of following him. We then invite them to commit to Christ and become members of the New Hope community.
Schedule: Confo takes place on 4 Sundays over lunch (in the Fellowship Hall, right after 11am worship) and one 24-hour retreat.
- Class: February 5, 12, 26, and March 4. We’ll provide the meal and all the materials.
- Retreat: March 24-25, at the home of a New Hope family here in town. Details TBA.
- Session Meeting: April 24 (for all students who commit to joining New Hope) 6-8pm
- Confirmation Sunday: May 5, all 3 worship services (8:00, 9:30, 11:00am).
NEW: We are asking for one parent to join you at each of the four classes on Sundays. We’re serious! We want parents to learn this as much as you students and share in the @home component, and we know how powerful it is when you are on the same page as a family. So moms and dads – come on! (Parents: we will be in touch with you separately about your role in this and whether you’d want to join New Hope as well!)
Interested? Come to an informational meeting on Sunday morning January 8, 10:30am in the Fellowship Hall at New Hope. Registration for Confo closes January 29. In the meantime, feel free to contact Andy with all questions. Get the FAQs here.

FAQs
Q: Do I have to go through Confirmation to join New Hope as a member?
A: No, you can attend any Newcomer’s Coffee (3rd Sundays, 10:45am or 12:15pm). But if you are middle or high school student, we strongly encourage you to go the Confo route for the teaching, mentoring, and strong church connection. If you go through Confo and decide NOT to join New Hope, that’s ok, too.
Q: If I go through Confo and want to join New Hope, do I have to be here on May 5?
A: Yes. ;) It’s important for the whole church to see and welcome you as people who believe in Jesus Christ and part of the New Hope family!
Q: If I go through Confo and join New Hope – will I get baptized?
A: That depends. If you were already baptized as a child, then no: we don’t “re-baptize” you. It’s a sign of what God does, not so much what we do. If you have not been baptized, then we will baptize you on May 5 (We’ll talk lots about this beforehand!)
Q: What’s the point of belonging to New Hope? Can’t I just come to church?
A: The point is that a real relationship with God – united to him – means you also united to his people. A Christian without a church is like an orphan. God created the church as his people, his body, his family, a fellowship of believers who are like brother and sister to each other. You need us and we need you. Churches are like outposts of God’s kingdom here on earth. Of course, anyone can attend and all are welcome. But if you believe in Christ and this is your church, then join! Make a commitment to be with us in worship, growing in discipleship, and on mission together.
