New Hope’s Music Ministry is offering a unique Kids’ Choir Thanksgiving opportunity for children from second grade on up.
It’s a short term commitment: 6 rehearsals, beginning Sunday, October 9 and running each Sunday through November 13. The children will participate in both the 8am and 9:30 services on Sunday, November 20.
Which children will participate? 2nd graders and up. (The children will need to be readers.)
Where will they rehearse? In rooms 106/108 – from the sanctuary use the doors on the organ console side of the room.
What time will they rehearse? 10:30 – 11:00am
Who will be leading them? Our own Betsy Sinke. Betsy sings in our New Hope Singers and, at Summit Christian School, teaches and leads the Kingdom Kids Children’s choir. You may remember that the Kingdom Kids joined the New Hope Singers in concert on our Americana Concert in the spring of 2011.
How will they be accompanied? Jennifer Chandler will be the pianist for the group.
What will they be learning?
- A text by Isaac Watts (1674-1748) set to new music by Michael Burkhardt (1995) to sing by themselves.
- A text based on Matthew 6:28-31, 33-34a set to music by Emma Lou Diemer (2006) to sing with the New Hope Singers.
- The worship liturgy for Thanksgiving: they will have an assigned part to read.
- The three hymns for that Sunday: Now Thank We All Our God; We Gather Together; Let All Things Now Living
What will they wear? We will keep it simple in this beginning effort. Probably “important event nice dress-up”.
